This Trainer is a complete testing package for one of the most up-to-date automotive active control systems. The system controls the dynamic status through the electronic control units “motor control”, “electric power steering” and “braking” that implement dedicated algorithms with data transmission via multiplex networks.

This system controls or simulates (because it does not include all the components of a car) the following functions:

• Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

• Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR)

• Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

• Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

• Assistance during departure (HH)

• Emergency braking assistance (HBA) - theoretically simulated

• Dynamic steering torque control (DST)

All the components of circuits and equipment are mounted on a large vertical panel of silk-screen-printed aluminium including:

• Synoptic diagram with the control units connected via CAN network

• Several test points (Ø 2 mm) on the connections of the electric components, for a thorough monitoring of the system

• Microprocessor fault simulator, especially designed to enable the Teacher to enter various types of faults in the system and to assess the troubleshooting processes carried out by students. The system can restart its right operation only after students have typed the code of the faulty component using the same simulator.

TRAINING PROGRAM

The training program includes theoretical and/or practical activities about the following subjects:

• Identification of system components

• Analysis of the operation of the hydraulic unit and of the brake fluid recovery pump

• Analysis of the behavior with the locking of one or more wheels

• Analysis of the intervention conditions in case of wheel slip

• Analysis of the braking distribution with the aid of pressure gauges

• Analysis of the control in under-steering and over-steering conditions

• Analysis of electrical levels and fault states of the CAN (Control Area Network) multiplex network at high and low speed

• ABS intervention in case of blocking of one or more wheels

• EBD electronic braking distribution

• ASR traction control
